About Dr. Geneva
Picture a small town on the Jersey Shore, where a young girl watched her parents champion civil rights and build community. Both held master’s degrees and had met at Morgan State, a historically Black college where I would later follow in their footsteps. Education was non-negotiable in our home—a value that would eventually lead me from Morgan State to earn my doctorate from Wayne State University.
Those early lessons in leadership and purpose shaped my path in ways I couldn’t yet imagine. They taught me that true impact comes from both professional excellence and personal courage—a lesson I’d draw upon again and again.
My journey led me to become the first female CEO of Detroit’s United Way, where I orchestrated transformative change and raised over $100 million for community initiatives. I was living what many would call “the dream”—breaking glass ceilings, leading major organizations, and creating lasting impact.
Then came a Pivotal Moment that would Reshape Everything.

Just months after stepping from my successful nonprofit career into entrepreneurship—a long-held dream—life dealt a series of profound challenges.
My husband, who had swept me off my feet decades earlier when we met at a conference (and were shopping for furniture together just days later), was diagnosed with cancer.
Then my parents fell ill. I became a caregiver while trying to launch a business, eventually losing all three of them, my anchors, within months of each other.
In those darkest moments, staring at their obituaries through tears, I discovered something transformative about the dash between birth and death dates—that small line representing all we do, all we love, all we become. This revelation became the catalyst for The NEXT Framework, born from both my decades of leadership experience and my personal journey through life’s most challenging transitions.
I understand intimately what it means to be a high-achieving woman navigating major life and career transitions.
I can help you live the life you've always dreamed of and get the career you deserve.
I’ve balanced being a devoted mother and grandmother with serving on numerous boards and commissions, often rushing from late-night community meetings to early-morning story times—at a pace that led me to identify what became my shorthand for the common experience of (SEO) Stress, Exhaustion, and Overwhelm.
I’ve moved six or seven times, rebuilding community connections each time, while maintaining my roles as a family anchor and civic leader. I’ve been the executive balancing professional demands with personal responsibilities, the wife becoming a widow, the daughter becoming a caregiver, and the accomplished leader stepping into entrepreneurship in her late 60s.
Each transition taught me that our greatest challenges can become our most powerful sources of wisdom and strength.
Today, I guide other accomplished women...
to navigate their own pivotal transitions with purpose and confidence. Whether they’re reimagining their careers, processing personal loss, or seeking deeper meaning in their next chapter, I’m committed to bringing both strategic expertise and deep empathy to their journey.
From the profound joys of grandmotherhood to the challenges of multiple relocations, from boardroom leadership to community advocacy, I’ve learned that every transition—whether welcomed or unexpected—carries seeds of transformation. The world needs the wisdom, talent, and leadership of experienced women now more than ever. Let’s create your next powerful chapter together.

Falling in the pit and learning how to lead a vibrant life.
